

I also know a number of professional digital artists who have expressed a preference for working in GIMP for reasons ranging from from the functional to the creative. Most of the other complaints that I commonly hear about the GIMP are being addressed over the course of the next two major versions. As far as CMYK support, there is a plugin available that add in that functionality. I won't say it is perfect, but GIMP is far more extensible than Photoshop and allows me to manage workflow much better than Photoshop. I dropped Photoshop in favour of GIMP because I found it technically superior to Photoshop in far more ways than it lacked.

any person who deals with graphics will find Gimp as inferior due to lack of functionality and solid graphical engine.
